Leslie Hutchens, Owner/Stylist
At the age of 10, I started dreaming of becoming a shampoo girl at a salon where I would sweep the floors, talk to the clients, and provide the best service of all—the hair wash massage. I achieved that goal at the tender age of 15 and by then I was immersed in an industry and culture that has now captivated me for 20 years.
As someone who values wearable hair, it is of the utmost importance to give my clients cuts and styles they are able to achieve at home. I've built my career around two techniques that have been central to my passion and my brand: dry cutting and balayage highlights.
The dry cutting technique I have developed over my career allows for soft lines and texture that are cut to the shape of the head and provide long-lasting styles that grow out gracefully. Dry cutting is more of a sculptural approach to hair, working in volume and shape, working with how the hair lives as opposed to forced lines.
The same ideology is applied to color, with the goal of providing clients with hair color that fits their desired maintenance level. Balayage is the ultimate technique for brightening hair while maintaining a soft root, offering long-wear hair color. This technique can stand alone or can be coupled with gray coverage to add dimension and highlight, creating a beautiful natural finish.
